Manufacturing Manager
Reports To: Operations Manager
Job Purpose:
Oversee the daily operations of the manufacturing process. Coordinate, plan, and direct all activities in the production process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Delivery and sales monitoring
Meet with Production Scheduler and Supervisor to review schedules and problems preventing on time delivery.
Coach manufacturing staff regarding the shifting of manpower to accommodate delivery schedule.
Develop and monitor monthly sales goals and report issues to the General Manager.
Streamlining Build Philosophies
Arrange production lines with the intent of eliminating as much waste as possible.
Oversee communication to Engineering regarding modifications that may be required.
Coach manufacturing personnel on the fundamentals of Lean Manufacturing traits.
Active participation in work instruction and operation breakdown document review process.
Root cause analysis of internal and external manufacturing rejections.
Training
Ensure departmental training requirements are achieved and properly documented with HR department in conjunction with support from Training Coordinator.
Identify key individuals and develop their abilities for future advanced roles within the Company.
Labor Budget monitoring
Review labor efficiencies and assess labor overruns in conjunction with support from Labor Analyst.
Validate estimated labor and communicate labor discrepancies with Operations Manager and General Manager
Complete annual and probationary employee reviews
Support and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.
Assist Human Resources with Disciplinary action as requested.
Participate in and contribute to ISO/AS9100 Management Review meetings as required.
Ensure department related ISO/AS9100 procedures, forms and work instructions are established, implemented, and maintained as per requirements of standard.
Purchasing-off-site trips to local stores, suppliers as need arises.
All other duties as requested or assigned.
Assigned Authorities:
Empowered to scrap product as determined necessary throughout the build process.
Permitted to initiate departmental employee disciplinary action.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of cable/harness assembly.
Proficient in ERP system, Microsoft Excel, and Word software.
Able to read and interpret Customer drawings and specifications.
IPC-620 certification preferred but not required.
Knowledge in the use of cable manufacturing tools, equipment, and machinery
Math skills required with the ability to work with fractions and decimals
Must know how to read and use measuring equipment (ruler, tape measure, calipers)
Must be well organized, self-starter with the ability to lead and act with diplomacy.
Excellent problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization.
Minimal 5 years of experience in cable/harness manufacturing
Minimal 5 years of experience in a leadership role
Communication Skills:
Individuals must be able and willing to communicate effectively with coworkers despite the presence of potential language barriers.
Working Conditions:
The work area can be crowded with products.
Limited exposure to moderate noise levels may occur while on the manufacturing floor.
Exposed to areas that require PPE while on manufacturing floor.
Work is performed in a climate-controlled facility.
Must work in areas that can be dusty with airborne particles.
Work hours are as necessitated.
Classification for this position – Exempt.
Travel to customer sites may be required.
Continual interruptions and changes of priorities will daily challenge the employee.
Frequently work/monitor projects that require deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
Occasional long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers may occur.
Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects.
This position requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to move freely around manufacturing floor as needed.
